چکیده

The residual-stress induced failure of Ti-6Al-4V/Si3N4 joints brazed with two different Si3N4 ceramics possessing intrinsic properties was elucidated through experimental and finite-element (FE) thermo-mechanical simulations incorporating the local elasto-plastic as-received Ag-Cu-Ti filler brazing zone characterized by nano-indentation. All tested fractured mainly from due to residual stress, their bending strengths increased when using higher strength. FE-analysis based on filler’s overestimated nominal approximately 100 MPa in both joints; nano-indentation revealed that depletion ductile Ag-Cu phase growth hard Cu-Ti intermetallic compounds reduced plastically deformable thickness after being brazed, whereby they resulted stress ceramics. Finally, validity FE-estimated enhanced considering effective (30 μm) instead state (50 μm).

Mechanical properties and microstructures of dental cast Ti-Ag and Ti-Cu alloys.

In this study, experimental Ti-Ag alloys (5, 10, and 20 mass% Ag) and Ti-Cu alloys (2, 5, and 10 mass% Cu) were made in an argon-arc melting furnace. The alloys were cast into magnesia molds using an argon gas-pressure dental casting machine, and the mechanical properties and microstructures of the castings were investigated. As the concentration of silver or copper in the alloys increased, the...

Characteristics and Mechanical Properties of Bypass-Current MIG Welding-Brazed Dissimilar Al/Ti Joints

Abstract—Joining of 1mm thick aluminum 6061 to titanium TC4 was conducted using Bypass-current MIG welding-brazed, and stable welding process and good bead appearance were obtained. The Joint profile and microstructure of Ti/Al joints were observed by optical microscopy and SEM and then the structure of the interfacial reaction layers were analyzed in details. It was found that the intermetalli...

An investigation on metallurgical and mechanical properties of vacuum brazed Ti-6Al-4V to 316L stainless steel using Zr-based filler metal

Both Ti-6Al-4V and 316L stainless steels are widely used as engineering alloys. Fusion welding of these two alloys is not easily possible due to their incomplete solubility in each other. Brazing is one of the best choices for joining dissimilar alloys. In this study, wettability experiments were done at 940 and 970 ºC for 5, 15 and 30 min. Also, joining of these two alloys was carried out at 9...

Fatigue of Ti-6Al-4V

Metallic biomaterials have essentially three fields of use; these are the artificial hip joints, screw, plates and nails for internal fixation of fractures, and dental implants. Any of these devices must support high mechanical load and resistance of material against breakage is essential. High mechanical properties are needed for structural efficiency of surgical and dental implants. But their...

Thermodynamic modelling of the Ag-Cu-Ti ternary system

Ag-Cu-Ti system is important for brazing applications and mainly for ceramic joining. This system is characterized by numerous intermetallics in the Cu-Ti binary and the existence of a miscibility gap in the liquid phase. For applications, the knowledge of phase equilibria, invariant reactions in the temperature range of interest and thermodynamic activity values (mainly of Ti) are important. T...
